TNR stands for Trap, Neuter, Return — and it’s one of the most important programs we provide for the communities of Middletown and Wallkill.

Every week, our dedicated volunteer trappers work tirelessly to humanely reduce the feral cat populations in these towns while improving the lives of countless cats living outdoors. But the need continues to grow, and we desperately need more volunteers to help us expand this lifesaving program into additional communities.

Could you give just a few hours a week to help? We are holding a TNR Training Session on Wednesday, June 17, at 5 pm in the Pets Alive Community Room at 363 Derby Road, Middletown, New York

There are many ways you can support our TNR program:

  • Help trap cats in the evening
  • Transport cats to and from appointments
  • Help release cats back to their colonies
  • Care for cats recovering in our TNR room after surgery and medical treatment
  • Assist with TNR laundry (wash at home and return)
  • Help distribute flyers before trapping begins so owners can keep pet cats indoors

Most volunteer tasks can easily fit around a regular work schedule. Trapping often happens at night, while cat care can be done early in the morning or after work.

And don’t worry — we will teach you everything you need to know.

The reality is heartbreaking: there are literally hundreds of feral cats in our area, and more than a dozen locations are currently waiting for help. Right now, the only thing limiting how many cats we can help is the number of volunteers available.

By joining our TNR team, you’re not only helping cats — you’re helping neighborhoods, residents, and entire communities.

Please consider becoming part of this lifesaving effort today.

Email outreach@petsalive.org to RSVP to attend.
